TD Updater is a new tool introduced to Boardmaker 7 Editor and Student Center to improve the user experience of updating an application. This application has the power to automatically check for updates and download them in the background, notify users of available updates, and repair an application. With its simple design, the application integrates seamlessly across all supported platforms (macOS, Windows, and Linux).
After determining the desired workflows, I worked on polishing the UI and adding the remainder of the project requirements. The outstanding requirements that were missing from the early stages of design were the settings and language selector.
These areas were designed once the developers were about ready to add them to their sprints. Typically, I design ahead of development, but certain requirements were not established until the work had begun. To make do with the time allotted for these areas, I took designs and workflows from Boardmaker 7 that were already tested and familiar to the users who would be interacting with TD Updater.
